about

Pakistan

Christians are a very small minority in Pakistan, around 1.7% of the population. The majority of Christians are among Pakistan’s poorest treated as second class citizens.

There are many extremist groups in the country. These groups run Madrassas, Islamic schools, whose curriculum often includes military/weapons training. Many Madrassa graduates join the extremist groups and want to join the Islamic Jihad (holy war), many gain fighting experience in places like Afghanistan.

Christians often fall victim to the country’s strict Blasphemy laws which are aimed to protect the Quran and Muhammed from ridicule.
